INTO THE CORE

Colossians 3:5-17

Ah! now we’re digging down to the under­pinning. The forgiving spirit! That touches the inner core of the thing. Not things not done, not words spoken merely, nor even kindly acts done, but the breath that pene­trates one’s being like an atmosphere, and sends a perfume, intangible but real, and as fragrant as wild roses, into the nostrils of the other one. That is forgiveness. That is God. That is human, the real human.
