Introduction
This chapter agrees, in the main, with 1 Kings 8:62; 1 Kings 9:9. The chronicler, however, has more of detail, and informs us that “the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the house.” Thus Jehovah set his Divine approval upon the dedication of the temple, as he had anciently upon that of the tabernacle. Comp. Exodus 40:34; Leviticus 9:24.
