For them, silenced but unrepentant, no message is left but "woe." Matthew 23:1-39.

Or, ye deceive yourselves, etc. Jesus' answer gives the three incapacities of the rationalist: self-deception, Romans 1:21; Romans 1:22 ignorance of the spiritual content of Scripture, Acts 13:27; Acts 13:27 disbelief in the intervention of divine power, 2 Peter 3:5-9.

(Greek - νομικός ," "of the law"; occurs also Luke 7:30; Luke 10:25; Luke 11:45; Luke 11:46; Luke 11:52; Luke 14:3; Titus 3:13. Except in the last instance, "lawyer" is another name for "scribe."
(See Scofield "Titus 3:13- :") . In Titus 3:13 the term has the modern meaning.
