Introduction

1:1 Ephrathite. (e-34) Or 'Ephraimite,' the Levites being considered as belonging to the tribe in which they lived. see Judges 17:7 .

Verse 5

18:5 forth; (a-4) i.e., for warlike raids, as Judges 11:3 , c. prospered (b-10) Or 'behaved wisely.' see ver. 30; Jeremiah 23:5 .

Verse 6

18:6 triangles. (c-42) The word is differently understood; some interpret it 'noble songs.' It is as 'excellent things' in Proverbs 22:20 .

Verse 11

18:11 thought, (d-7) Lit. 'said;' so ver. 17; ch. 20.3,26. wall. (e-14) That is 'transfix him to the wall.'

Verse 14

18:14 prospered (b-3) Or 'behaved wisely.' see ver. 30; Jeremiah 23:5 . and (f-8) Or 'for.'

Verse 15

18:15 prospered (b-6) Or 'behaved wisely.' see ver. 30; Jeremiah 23:5 .

Verse 21

18:21 time. (a-42) Some connect 'a second time' with the preceding clause; others translate, 'by one of the two.'

Verse 30

18:30 forth; (b-8) As Judges 11:3 , &c., see also ver. 5 better (c-21) Or 'prospered more.' See ver. 5 and Note, Proverbs 1:3 .
