Don't drift

A great many people that have heard the message, they continue to hear it and do nothing about it. A man said to me some time ago, he said to me, he says, "McGee, you know someday I'm going to take up your offer and accept Christ." But right now, he's drifting. And I don't know how far along he is, but the day will come he'll be in the rapids. And then it'll be too late; he'll go over. The heart attack may come or be in an accident. I want to tell you, now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. And there's a danger—a real danger—of drifting.

You don't trifle with God

John the Baptist was in the desert alone, and God was with him. Paul had two years of solitary confinement on the same desert, and that was God's way of being with him. And the Apostle John was exiled on the lonely isle of Patmos, and God was with him. You know, today so many people—"Oh, if we can all come together and have a great prayer meeting or have a great meeting together." My friend, have you ever tried being alone? That's where God's going to meet you. Not in the crowd. When you're alone with Him, why don't you take the Word of God and go off alone with Him? It'll do you a lot of good.

You don't trifle with God. You don't play church with Him. If you do, friends, then that's all you're doing, you're just playing church. God not only makes promises—and that is covenants—but He keeps them. He is immutable; therefore, He's faithful. He's a God of mercy. And it's by His mercy that He saves us. You remember Jeremiah in Lamentations 3:22: "It is the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not." In other words, God is gracious, and God expects us, though, to mean business. And He expects to be obeyed.

Jesus' ministry today

There's another aspect, and this is the aspect that I think the writer who said, "There's a man in the glory, but the church has lost sight of Him," and I think that what he had in mind is the present ministry of Christ. Now He today has a ministry, and that ministry can be expressed like this: He died down here to save us; He lives up there to keep us saved. He has a ministry today—a ministry of intercession, a ministry of shepherding, a ministry of disciplining His church. And He is still at God's right hand, still interested in the church, and He's available for you today.

He is God

This is a tremendous statement here: "…thy throne, O God…." Now this is God the Father calling God the Son, "God." You want to deny that He's God manifest in the flesh? Then may I say you're contradicting God Himself. God called Him God. What are you going to call Him? Well, I don't know about you, I'm going to call Him God. He's God manifest in the flesh. This is a tremendous statement. He is superior to angels, because He's going to rule. He is the Messiah. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords that is to rule over this earth someday.

He's there for us

Do you need mercy? Do you need help? Do you need wisdom? What do you need? Well, why don't you go to Him? Tell Him what your problem is. Have you done that? Have you laid out your problem before Him? Have you asked Him to intervene in your behalf and to work it out according to His will? And, by the way, He will work it out according to His will, not yours. Prayer is not to persuade God to do something that He didn't intend to do. Prayer is for you and me to get in line with the program of God. And, therefore, He's there today. And we can obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

We could never know the glory of this material sun. To begin with, you can't look at it directly. It would blind you if you did. But from the rays of the sun, we get light, we get heat, and actually, I think, healing from it. And that's the way we know about the sun. Now we'd never know anything about God apart from the revelation that God's given in His Son. He is the brightness. We never see God. But I know about Him now through Jesus Christ. Just as the rays of the sun with their warmth and light tell me about the physical sun, the Lord Jesus reveals God to us today.

God spoke through His Son

He hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds." Now God has spoken, finally, through His Son. He's spoken to us by His Son. That literally is, "To us, God spoke in a Son." God has said the last thing to this world in Christ. And if this morning He spoke out of heaven, He'd repeat something He's already said—because, my friend, you have the last word from God to this world in Jesus Christ.

He longs for us

To as many as received him, to them gave he the right (or the authority) to become the sons of God, even to those that (don't do any more nor less than to just simply) believe on his name." We're living in the days of His rejection. He's away, but He's coming. And when that trump sounds, I say to you it's too late then to make your decision. That's the reason He's waiting. That's the reason He's waited so long. It is not His will that any should perish. He says that today if you will receive Him, He'll make you His child. And this is the only way He can make you a son of God, a child of God.

Now there's been many a politician wished that he'd lived a little differently and acted a little differently. And that's true of men—and I mean by that, mankind generally. But today a child of God ought to live that the charges which inevitably will be leveled against him will be a lie. Now you can't keep people from talking about you, but you can so live as to make them liars when they do talk about you. Paul said in Philippians 2:15, "That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world." That ought to be true of every believer.

God needs people of purpose

My friend, may I say to you that many of us are standing on the sidelines today and saying we're wondering why God doesn't put us in the game. I'll tell you why. You haven't made the decision. We haven't come to that place in our lives where we're willing to commit ourselves to Him. And we must take that step; it's an act of the will. It's a commitment to Him. When you and I do that, may I say that God will lead us, and God will guide us. Oh, today God needs men of purpose and women of purpose who purpose in their heart to commit ourselves to Him.

My friend, may I say to you that many of us are standing on the sidelines today and saying we're wondering why God doesn't put us in the game. I'll tell you why. You haven't made the decision. We haven't come to that place in our lives where we're willing to commit ourselves to Him. And we must take that step; it's an act of the will. It's a commitment to Him. When you and I do that, may I say that God will lead us, and God will guide us. Oh, today God needs men of purpose and women of purpose who purpose in their heart to commit ourselves to Him.
