Gary Bauer Dissects the Vance-Walz Three Against One Debate
October 3, 2024
In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer dissects the vice-presidential debate between Senator J.D. Vance and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. The big take-aways, according to Bauer, were: 1) The moderators fact-checked Vance on abortion law in Minnesota. They were dead wrong. Walz signed a law in Minnesota that allows abortion through nine months of pregnancy and grants legal protections to abortion providers who administer no life-saving medical intervention to babies who survive an abortion, even when they are full-term. The Minnesota Department of Health reported that eight babies died this way since Walz signed the bill into law. 2) Walz, to justify mass illegal immigration, quoted Matthew 25:40, "And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'" Context is important. There is much theological debate on what Jesus meant by this, but some experts say He may have been referring to His disciples. But suggesting society must extend this grace as mass amnesty to 10+ million lawbreaking individuals is likely a stretch and a poor biblical interpretation. 3) Applying the governor's exegesis, one could also strongly argue that vice presidential candidate Walz could include preborn children in "the least of these." Listen to this post-debate podcast for more from Bauer, and share it with your family and friends.

Unmasking Extremes: Gary Bauer Exposes the Deadly Agenda Behind the Left's War on Trump and American Values
September 19, 2024
In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer discusses what he calls the despicable and potentially deadly consequences associated with the Democratic Party leadership's eight-year strategy to dehumanize former President Donald Trump. Bauer denounces Vice President Kamala Harris for her tacit approval of violent rhetoric. And it's not just her un-American Marxist tactics described above. Harris is in favor of brutality in American cities, supporting the decriminalization of crime! Harris is extreme on abortion, supporting the painful killing of preborn babies up to birth! In the 2024 General Election, the contrast cannot be starker. One party will deploy brute force and fascistic methods to control the citizenry that will not comply, and the other wants Americans to live in freedom, liberty, and peace. Listen to this eye-opening podcast and share it with your family and friends.

VP Kamala Harris's Bad Week
September 5, 2024
In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer recounts Vice President Kamala Harris's very bad week. Harris faced significant backlash last week, as her campaign efforts coincided with the third anniversary of the Abbey Gate bombing (outside of the Kabul Airport) in Afghanistan—a tragic event during the Biden-Harris administration that resulted in the deaths of 13 American servicemen and women. While Harris was on the campaign trail, former President Donald Trump attended a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, invited by the Gold Star families of those killed in the bombing. When images of Trump at the ceremony went viral, Harris criticized him for politicizing the event, sparking outrage from the grieving families. They condemned her remarks as "heinous, vile, and disgusting" and praised Trump for offering them solace during their time of grief. Kelly Barnett, whose son was among the fallen, defended Trump's actions, highlighting his ongoing support. Harris's failure to acknowledge the names of the deceased has only deepened the families' anger. Listen now.

Gary Bauer and John Stemberger Discuss the Power and Influence of Christian Citizenship
August 22, 2024
In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer interviews John Stemberger, president of Liberty Counsel Action and senior counsel of Liberty Counsel. The two discuss the considerable controversy in the American Church about the proper role of Christians and their pastors concerning the governance of society. One faction believes that Christians and church leaders have a biblically grounded obligation to weigh into matters of public affairs. The other side believes that public policy has no place in local churches. Stemberger calls the latter "…bad theology, believing somehow that the Church is an institution that shouldn't engage in culture, that it should only focus on ecclesiastical matters and theology." Stemberger says that at least once every two years, pastors must weigh into elections with their congregations, and clearly and powerfully define the various positions of political parties on matters important to Christ-followers. Not doing so would mean misunderstanding the Christian's role in society. You won't want to miss this critically important discussion. Listen now.
