When I was there before, I warned those who were still sinning. I may not be there yet, but let me offer another warning to stop before I arrive. If it is still happening when I get there, they will be dealt with accordingly.

Galatians 1:1

This letter is from Paul, a cowboy for Jesus. I was chosen to be a cowboy, but not by anyone here on earth. The authority I've been given came from Jesus himself and his Dad, who raised his boy up from the dead.

Not too long ago, God called you to ride for his outfit through his son, Jesus. I'm appalled you are now riding for another brand. There is only one good news message, but y'all have jumped the fence and are chasing something else.

Let me be clear, there is only one good news message, but some people have convinced y'all otherwise. They're doing everything they can to change the message.

The only thing they knew about me was I was the one who would go to any length to wipe out the name of Jesus, but now I ride for Jesus's brand.

The only suggestion they made was that we keep looking after the poor. But we were already doing that and weren't going to stop.

When he first got there, he'd eat with everyone, even those without their pickles clipped. But some friends of James showed up and Pete wouldn't eat with the outsiders anymore. He didn't want to rock the boat with those who believed circumcision was necessary for salvation.

When I saw what was going on, I told Pete in front of everyone, "You were born a Jew and followed their ways, but now you ride for the brand and live like an outsider. Why then are you trying to get the outsiders to act like Jews and follow all their rules?

My old life has been nailed to the cross with Jesus. I no longer live, but Christ lives within me. This earthly body only lives by trusting in the man who died to save me.

But here's the part I don't understand, after getting into God's outfit by believing in Jesus, why are you now trying to be perfect by your own works?

Not only that, but the Good Book told us what was going to happen. It said all people, not just Jews, would be made right with God through faith. God told Abraham this good news when he said, "All cowboys will be blessed because of you."
Galatians 3:10

But those who trust in rules to make 'em right with God are cursed. The Good Book says, "Cursed is the cowboy who doesn't follow all the rules and obey them completely."
Galatians 3:13

But Jesus saved us from this curse of following a code that can't be followed. When he was strung up on that cross, he took this curse for us and suffered our consequences. The Good Book said, "Cursed is the one who is strung up on a tree."
Galatians 3:18

Think about this, can following a set of rules bless us? If it could, then we wouldn't need God's promise, just good rule-following ability. But God blessed Abraham because of his faith, not because he followed rules. We have the same promise made to us.
Galatians 3:20

A middleman is needed when two sides must reach an agreement. But remember, God didn't use a middleman when he gave his promise to Abraham.
