I have held my peace for a long time; I have been still, and refrained myself: [now] I will cry out like a travailing woman; I will gasp and pant together.

It pleased Yahweh, for his righteousness' sake, to magnify the law, and make it honorable.

But this is a people robbed and plundered; all of them are snared in holes, and they are hid in prison-houses: they are for a prey, and none delivers; for a spoil, and none says, Restore.

Who is there among you that will give ear to this? that will listen and hear for the time to come?

Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not Yahweh? he against whom we have sinned, and in whose ways they would not walk, neither were they obedient to his law.

But now thus says Yahweh that created you, O Jacob, and he that formed you, O Israel: Don't be afraid, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name, you are mine.

For I am Yahweh your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your stead.

Don't be afraid; for I am with you: I will bring your seed from the east, and gather you from the west;

every one that is called by my name, and whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, yes, whom I have made.

Thus says Yahweh, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and I will bring down all of them as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships of their rejoicing.

the people which I formed for myself, that they might set forth my praise.

You haven't brought me of your sheep for burnt-offerings; neither have you honored me with your sacrifices. I haven't burdened you with offerings, nor wearied you with frankincense.

I, even I, am he that blots out your transgressions for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins.

For I will pour water on him that is thirsty, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit on your seed, and my blessing on your offspring:

One shall say, I am Yahweh's; and another shall call the name of Jacob; and another shall write with his hand, For Yahweh, and shall name the name of Israel.

And who is like me? Let him call and declare it, and set it in order for me, since my establishing the ancient people. And let them declare the things that are coming, and that shall come to pass, to [those among] them.

Who has fashioned a god, or molten an image that is profitable for nothing?

He cuts down cedars, and takes the holm-tree and the oak, and strengthens for himself one among the trees of the forest: he plants a fir-tree, and the rain nourishes it.

Then it shall be for man to burn; and he takes thereof, and warms himself; yes, he kindles it, and bakes bread: yes, he makes a god, and worships it; he makes it a graven image, and falls down thereto.

And the residue thereof he makes a god, even his graven image; he falls down to it and worships, and prays to it, and says, Deliver me; for you are my god.
