For Egypt helps in vain, and to no purpose: therefore I have called her Rahab that sits still.

Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come forever and ever.

For it is a rebellious people, lying sons, sons that will not hear the law of Yahweh;

For thus said the Lord Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel, In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. And you would not:

but you said, No, for we will flee on horses; therefore you shall flee: and, We will ride on the swift; therefore those that pursue you shall be swift.

And therefore Yahweh will wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have mercy on you: for Yahweh is a God of justice; blessed are all those that wait for him.

For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; you shall weep no more; he will surely be gracious to you at the voice of your cry; when he shall hear, he will answer you.

And he will give the rain for your seed, with which you shall sow the ground; and bread of the increase of the ground, and it shall be fat and plenteous. In that day your cattle shall feed in large pastures;

For through the voice of Yahweh shall the Assyrian be dismayed; with his rod he will smite [him].

For a Topheth is prepared of old; yes, for the king it is made ready; he has made it deep and large; the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of Yahweh, like a stream of brimstone, kindles it.

Woe to those that go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they don't look to the Holy One of Israel, neither seek Yahweh!

For thus says Yahweh to me, As the lion and the young lion growling over his prey, if a multitude of shepherds are called forth against him, will not be dismayed at their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so will Yahweh of hosts come down to fight on mount Zion, and on the hill thereof.

For in that day they shall cast away every man his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made to you for a sin.

For the fool will speak folly, and his heart will work iniquity, to do profaneness, and to utter error against Yahweh, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

For days beyond a year you shall be troubled, you careless women; for the vintage shall fail, the ingathering shall not come.

They shall smite on the breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.

For the palace shall be forsaken; the populous city shall be deserted; the hill and the watch-tower shall be for dens forever, a joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks;

O Yahweh, be gracious to us; we have waited for you: be the arm [which attacks] them every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.

Yahweh is exalted; for he dwells on high: he has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.

For Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh is our lawgiver, Yahweh is our king; he will save us.
