One man disobeyed God and many became sinners. But in the same way, one man obeyed God and many will be made right.
Romans 5:21
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
Sin once used death to rule us. But God gave us more of his grace so that grace could rule by making us right with him. And this brings us eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:1

So do you think we should continue sinning so that God will give us more and more grace?
Romans 6:10
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
Yes, when Christ died, he died to defeat the power of sin one time—enough for all time. He now has a new life, and his new life is with God.

Romans 6:13
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
Don't offer the parts of your body to serve sin. Don't use your bodies to do evil, but offer yourselves to God, as people who have died and now live. Offer the parts of your body to God to be used for doing good.
Romans 6:16
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
Surely you know that you become the slaves of whatever you give yourselves to. Anything or anyone you follow will be your master. You can follow sin, or you can obey God. Following sin brings spiritual death, but obeying God makes you right with him.
Romans 6:17
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
In the past you were slaves to sin—sin controlled you. But thank God, you fully obeyed what you were taught.
Romans 6:19
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
I use this example from everyday life because you need help in understanding spiritual truths. In the past you offered the parts of your body to be slaves to your immoral and sinful thoughts. The result was that you lived only for sin. In the same way, you must now offer yourselves to be slaves to what is right. Then you will live only for God.
Romans 6:22
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
But now you are free from sin. You have become slaves of God, and the result is that you live only for God. This will bring you eternal life.
Romans 6:23
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
When people sin, they earn what sin pays—death. But God gives his people a free gift—eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 7:4
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
In the same way, my brothers and sisters, your old selves died and you became free from the law through the body of Christ. Now you belong to someone else. You belong to the one who was raised from death. We belong to Christ so that we can be used in service to God.
Romans 7:6
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
In the past the law held us as prisoners, but our old selves died, and we were made free from the law. So now we serve God in a new way, not in the old way, with the written rules. Now we serve God in the new way, with the Spirit.
Romans 7:25
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
I thank God for his salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord! So in my mind I am a slave to God's law, but in my sinful self I am a slave to the law of sin.
Romans 8:3
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
The law was without power because it was made weak by our sinful selves. But God did what the law could not do: He sent his own Son to earth with the same human life that everyone else uses for sin. God sent him to be an offering to pay for sin. So God used a human life to destroy sin.
Romans 8:7
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
Why is this true? Because anyone whose thinking is controlled by their sinful self is against God. They refuse to obey God's law. And really they are not able to obey it.
Romans 8:8
[ Read Chapter | View Context | Multi-Translations | Study Tools ]
Those who are ruled by their sinful selves cannot please God.
