He said to them, My soul is sorrowful even to death; wait for me here, and watch with me.

Then he came to his disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, So, you were not able to watch with me even for one hour?

He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.

Jesus said to him, Is it for this that you have come, my friend? Then they came near and laid hands on Jesus, and arrested him.

Then Jesus said to him, Return the sword to its place; for all who take swords will die by swords.

Or do you think that I cannot ask of my Father, and he will now raise up for me more than twelve legions of angels?

After a while, those who were standing came up, and said to Peter, Truly you also are one of them, for even your speech proves it.

And they took counsel, and bought with it the potter''s field, for a cemetery for strangers.

And I gave them for the potter''s field, as the Lord commanded me.

For Pilate knew that because of envy they had delivered him.

When the governor was sitting on his judgment seat, his wife sent to him and said to him, Have nothing to do with that righteous man; for today I have suffered a great deal in my dream because of him.

But the high priests and the elders urged the people to ask for Bar-Abbas, and to destroy Jesus.

And they placed above his head in writing the reason for his death: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

He trusted in God; let him save him now, if he is pleased with him; for he said, I am God''s Son.

And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice and said, Eli, Eli, lmana shabachthani! which means, My God, my God, for this I was kept! *

Some of the men who were standing by, when they heard it, said, This man has called for Elijah.

He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. And Pilate commanded that the body should be given to him.

Now, therefore, command that precautions be taken at the tomb for three days. It is probable that his disciples may come and steal him at night, and then say to the people, He has risen from the dead; and the last deception will be worse than the first.

And behold, a great earthquake took place; for the angel of the Lord came down from heaven, and went up and rolled away the stone from the door, and sat on it.

And for fear of him the guards who were watching trembled, and became as if they were dead.
