For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God forever and ever; for wisdom and might are his.

I thank you, and praise you, O you God of my fathers, who have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we desired of you; for you have made known to us the king's matter.

as for you, O king, your thoughts came [into your mind] on your bed, what should come to pass hereafter; and he that reveals secrets has made known to you what shall come to pass.

But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but to the intent that the interpretation may be made known to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your heart.

As for this image, its head was of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze,

Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold, were broken in pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing-floors; and the wind carried them away, so that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was food for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the birds of the heavens dwelt in the branches thereof, and all flesh was fed from it.

This dream I, king Nebuchadnezzar, have seen; and you, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation, since all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation; but you are able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in you.

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was stricken mute for awhile, and his thoughts troubled him. The king answered and said, Belteshazzar, don't let the dream, or the interpretation, trouble you. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to those that hate you, and the interpretation thereof to your adversaries.

whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was food for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and on whose branches the birds of the heavens had their habitation:

it is you, O king, that have grown and become strong; for your greatness has grown, and reaches to heaven, and your dominion to the end of the earth.

The king spoke and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling-place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?

And at the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him that lives forever; for his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation.

At the same time my understanding returned to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and brightness returned to me; and my counselors and my lords sought to me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent greatness was added to me.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

All the presidents of the kingdom, the deputies and the satraps, the counselors and the governors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a strong interdict, that whoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, save of you, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for he is the living God, and steadfast forever, And his kingdom [is] that which shall not be destroyed; and his dominion shall be even to the end.

And as for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

As for me, Daniel, my spirit was grieved in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.
