"But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me.

But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

But I, O Lord , cry out to you; in the morning my prayer comes before you.

but I will not remove from him my steadfast love, or be false to my faithfulness.

But now you have spurned and rejected him; you are full of wrath against your anointed.

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

but you, O Lord , are on high forever.

But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have poured over me fresh oil.

The Lord knows our thoughts, that they are but an empty breath.

But the Lord has become my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge.

For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.

O Lord our God, you answered them; you were a forgiving God to them, but an avenger of their wrongdoings.

But you, O Lord , are enthroned forever; your name endures to all generations.

They will perish, but you endure; they will all wear out like a garment. You change them like clothing, and they pass away;

but you are the same, and your years have no end.

But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children,

Our ancestors, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wonderful works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled against the Most High at the Red Sea.

But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel.

But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert;

he gave them what they asked, but sent a wasting disease among them.
