For whatever things were written previously were written for our learning, that through patience and through comfort of the scriptures we might have hope.

For I say that Christ has been made a servant of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises [given] to the fathers,

and that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, Therefore I will give praise to you among the Gentiles, And sing to your name.

For I will not dare to speak of any things save those which Christ worked through me, for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,

whenever I go to Spain (for I hope to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way to there by you, if first in some measure I shall have been satisfied with your company)-

For it has been the good pleasure of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints that are at Jerusalem.

Yes, it has been their good pleasure; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, they owe it [to them] also to minister to them in carnal things.

Now I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

that I may be delivered from those that are disobedient in Judea, and [that] my service which [I have] for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints;

that you receive her in the Lord, worthily of the saints, and that you assist her in whatever matter she may have need of you: for she herself also has been a helper of many, and of my own self.

who laid down their own necks for my life; to whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles:

For those that are such do not serve as slaves to our Lord Christ, but to their own belly; and by their smooth and fair speech they beguile the hearts of the blameless.

For your obedience has come abroad to all men. I rejoice therefore over you: but I would have you wise to that which is good, and simple to that which is evil.

I thank my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;

so that you come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;

For it has been signified to me concerning you, my brothers, by them [that are of the household] of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were you baptized into the name of Paul?

For Christ didn't send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.

For the word of the cross is to those that perish foolishness; but to us who are saved it is the power of God.

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the discernment of the discerning I will bring to nothing.
