For truly I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which you see, and did not see them; and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them.

yet he does not have root in himself, but endures for awhile; and when tribulation or persecution rises because of the word, right away he stumbles.

For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.

For John said to him, It is not lawful for you to have her.

But the boat was now a long distance away from the land, distressed by the waves; for the wind was contrary.

But he answered and said to them, When it is evening, you say, [It will be] fair weather: for the heaven is red.

And in the morning, [It will be] foul weather today: for the heaven is red and lowering. You know how to discern the face of the heaven; but you can't [discern] the signs of the times.

And Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon Bar-jonah: for flesh and blood has not revealed it to you, but my Father who is in heaven.

But he turned, and said to Peter, Get behind me, Satan: you are a stumbling-block to me: for you do not mind the things of God, but the things of men.

For whoever would save his life shall lose it: and whoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it.

For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall render to every man according to his deeds.

And Peter answered, and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if you will, I will make here three tabernacles; one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.

Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is epileptic, and suffers grievously; for often-times he falls into the fire, and oft-times into the water.
