And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.

But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, [fn] tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out for fear.

"Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread."

For God commanded, saying, 'Honor your father and your mother'; Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16 ">[fn] and, 'He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.' Exodus 21:17">[fn]

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, "Send her away, for she cries out after us."

He answered and said to them, "When it is evening you say, "It will be fair weather, for the sky is red';

and in the morning, 'It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.' Hypocrites! [fn] You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."

For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us [fn] make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."

"Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic [fn] and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water.

So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; [fn] for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

27 Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; [fn] take that and give it to them for Me and you."

Mark 9:42-48; Luke 17:1,2">[xr] "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
