For when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law also.

For the one concerning whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar.

For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests.

For it is witnessed about Him,"You are a priest foreverAccording to the order of Melchizedek."

For, on the one hand, there is a setting aside of a former commandment because of its weakness and uselessness

(for the Law made nothing perfect), and on the other hand there is a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

(for they indeed became priests without an oath, but He with an oath through the One who said to Him,"The Lord has swornAnd will not change His mind,‘You are a priest forever'");

Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens;

who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.

For the Law appoints men as high priests who are weak, but the word of the oath, which came after the Law, appoints a Son, who has been made perfect forever.

For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; so it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer.

who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses was warned by God when he was about to erect the tabernacle; for, "See," He says, "that you make all things according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain."

For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second.

For finding fault with them, He says,"Behold, days are coming, says the Lord,When I will complete a new covenantWith the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;

Not like the covenant which I made with their fathersIn the day when I took them by the handTo lead them out of the land of Egypt;For they did not continue in My covenant,And I did not care for them, says the Lord.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of IsraelAfter those days, says the Lord:I will put My laws into their minds,And upon their hearts I will write them.And I will be their God,And they shall be My people.

And they shall not teach everyone his fellow citizen,And everyone his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,'For all will know Me,From the least to the greatest of them.

For I will be merciful to their iniquities,And I will remember their sins no more."

For there was a tabernacle prepared: the first part, in which were the lampstand and the table and the sacred bread, which is called the holy place.
