Other people said, "He is Elijah." Others said, "He is one who speaks for God like one of the early preachers."

For Herod had sent men to take John and put him into prison. He did this because of his wife, Herodias. She had been the wife of his brother Philip.

John the Baptist had said to Herod, "It is wrong for you to have your brother's wife."

The daughter of Herodias came in and danced before them. This made Herod and his friends happy. The king said to the girl, "Ask me for whatever you want and I will give it to you."

Then he made a promise to her, "Whatever you ask for, I will give it to you. I will give you even half of my nation."

She went to her mother and asked, "What should I ask for?" The mother answered, "I want the head of John the Baptist."

When Jesus got out of the boat, He saw many people gathered together. He had loving-pity for them. They were like sheep without a shepherd. He began to teach them many things.

Tell the people to go to the towns and villages and buy food for themselves."

For they all saw Him and were afraid. At once Jesus talked to them. He said, "Take hope. It is I, do not be afraid."

You are not making him do anything for his father and mother.

stealing, wanting something that belongs to someone else, doing wrong, lying, having a desire for sex sins, having a mind that is always looking for sin, speaking against God, thinking you are better than you are and doing foolish things.

His followers said to Him, "Where can anyone get enough bread for them here in this desert?"

The proud religious law-keepers came and began to ask Him for something special to see from heaven. They wanted to trap Jesus.

He breathed deep within and said, "Why do the people of this day look for something special to see? For sure, I tell you, the people of this day will have nothing special to see from heaven."

For what does a man have if he gets all the world and loses his own soul?

Jesus said to them, "For sure I tell you, some standing here will not die until they see the holy nation of God come with power!"

Peter said to Jesus, "Teacher, it is good for us to be here. Let us make three tents to worship in. One will be for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah."

He said to them, "For sure, Elijah will come first and get things ready. Is it not written that the Son of Man must suffer many things and that men will have nothing to do with Him?

Jesus sat down and called the followers to Him. He said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all. He will be the one to care for all."

The person who is not against us is for us.
