For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.

And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people.

And He sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat."

for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God."

for I say to you, [fn] I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes."

And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me."

Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves.

And the Lord said, [fn] "Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.

But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren."

For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: 'And He was numbered with the transgressors.' Isaiah 53:12 ">[fn] For the things concerning Me have an end."

Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, "Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean."

And they said, "What further testimony do we need? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth."

Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad; for he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by Him.

That very day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other, for previously they had been at enmity with each other.

no, neither did Herod, for I sent you back to him; [fn] and indeed nothing deserving of death has been done by Him.

who had been thrown into prison for a certain rebellion made in the city, and for murder.

Then he said to them the third time, "Why, what evil has He done? I have found no reason for death in Him. I will therefore chastise Him and let Him go."

And he released to them [fn] the one they requested, who for rebellion and murder had been thrown into prison; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
