But you say, ‘For what reason?' Because Yahweh has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.

For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with wrong," says Yahweh of hosts. "Be careful then to keep your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously."

"But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a smelter's fire and like fullers' soap.

"Then I will draw near to you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers and against the adulterers and against those who swear falsely and against those who oppress the wage earner in his wages, the widow and the orphan, and those who turn aside the sojourner and do not fear Me," says Yahweh of hosts.

"For I, Yahweh, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.

You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you!

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says Yahweh of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and empty out for you a blessing until it is beyond enough.

Then I will rebuke the devourer for you so that it will not corrupt the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field fail to bear," says Yahweh of hosts.

"So all the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land," says Yahweh of hosts.

Then those who feared Yahweh spoke to one another, and Yahweh gave heed and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear Yahweh and who think upon His name.

"For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every worker of wickedness will be chaff; and the day that is coming will set them aflame," says Yahweh of hosts, "so that it will leave them neither root nor branch."

"But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall.

And you will tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day which I am preparing," says Yahweh of hosts.

"Remember the law of Moses My servant, even the statutes and judgments which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel.

But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the One who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."

"Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him."

And they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet:

‘And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah,Are by no means least among the leaders of Judah;For out of you shall come forth a LeaderWho will shepherd My people Israel.'"

And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him."
