For the vision is yet for the appointed time;It pants toward its end, and it will not lie.Though it tarries, wait for it;For it will certainly come; it will not delay.

"Behold, as for the proud one,His soul is not right within him;But the righteous will live by his faith.

"Will not all of these lift up a taunt‑song against him,Even satire and riddles against himAnd say, ‘Woe to him who increases what is not his—For how long—And makes himself rich with loans?'

Will not your creditors rise up suddenly,And those who make you tremble awaken?Indeed, you will become spoil for them.

"Woe to him who is greedy for evil gain for his houseTo put his nest on high,To be delivered from the hand of evil!

You have counseled a shameful thing for your houseBy cutting off many peoples;So you are sinning against your own soul.

Is it not, behold, from Yahweh of hostsThat peoples toil for fire,And nations grow weary for nothing?

For the earth will be filledWith the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh,As the waters cover the sea.

For the violence done to Lebanon will cover you,And the devastation of its beasts by which you terrified them,Because of human bloodshed and violence done to the land,To the town and all its inhabitants.

"What profit is the graven image when its maker has engraved it,Or a molten image, a teacher of lies?For its maker trusts in his own makingWhen he fashions speechless idols.

You went forth for the salvation of Your people,For salvation with Your anointed.You crushed the head of the house of the wickedTo lay him bare from thigh to neck. Selah.

I heard, and my inward parts trembled;At the sound my lips tingled.Decay enters my bones,And in my place I tremble.Because I must wait quietly for the day of distress,For the people to arise who will invade us.

Be silent before Lord Yahweh!For the day of Yahweh is near,For Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice;He has set apart His guests.

Wail, O inhabitants of the Mortar,For all the people of Canaan will be silenced;All who weigh out silver will be cut off.

Neither their silver nor their goldWill be able to deliver themOn the day of the fury of Yahweh;And all the earth will be devouredIn the fire of His jealousy,For He will make a complete destruction,Indeed a terrifying one,Of all the inhabitants of the earth.

For Gaza will be forsakenAnd Ashkelon a desolation;Ashdod will be driven out at noon,And Ekron will be uprooted.

So the seacoast will be pastures,With caves for shepherds and folds for flocks.

And the coast will beFor the remnant of the house of Judah;They will feed upon it.In the houses of Ashkelon they will lie down at evening;For Yahweh their God will care for themAnd restore their fortune.

This they will have in return for their pride because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of Yahweh of hosts.

Yahweh will be fearsome to them, for He will starve all the gods of the earth; and all the coastlands of the nations will bow down to Him, everyone from his own place.
