For your hands are defiled with bloodAnd your fingers with iniquity;Your lips have spoken a lie;Your tongue mutters unrighteousness.

Therefore justice is far from us,And righteousness does not overtake us;We hope for light, but behold, darkness,For brightness, but we walk in thick darkness.

All of us growl like bears,And moan sadly like doves;We hope for justice, but there is none,For salvation, but it is far from us.

For our transgressions are multiplied before You,And our sins answer against us;For our transgressions are with us,And we know our iniquities:

Justice is turned back,And righteousness stands far away;For truth has stumbled in the street,And rightness cannot enter.

He put on righteousness like a breastplate,And a helmet of salvation on His head;And He put on garments of vengeance for clothingAnd wrapped Himself with zeal as a mantle.

So they will fear the name of Yahweh from the westAnd His glory from the rising of the sun,For He will come like a rushing streamWhich the wind of Yahweh makes flee.

"As for Me, this is My covenant with them," says Yahweh: "My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your seed, nor from the mouth of your seed's seed," says Yahweh, "from now and forever."

"Arise, shine, for your light has come,And the glory of Yahweh has risen upon you.

For behold, darkness will cover the earthAnd dense gloom the peoples;But Yahweh will rise upon you,And His glory will appear upon you.

Surely the coastlands will hope in Me;And the ships of Tarshish will come first,To bring your sons from afar,Their silver and their gold with them,For the name of Yahweh your God,And for the Holy One of Israel because He has adorned you with beautiful glory.

"Foreigners will build up your walls,And their kings will minister to you;For in My wrath I struck you,And in My favor I have had compassion on you.

For the nation and the kingdom which will not serve you will perish,And the nations will surely be laid waste.

No longer will you have the sun for light by day,Nor for brightness will the moon give you light;But you will have Yahweh for an everlasting light,And your God for your glory.

Your sun will no longer set,Nor will your moon wane;For you will have Yahweh for an everlasting light,And the days of your mourning will be finished.

Instead of your shame you will have a double portion,And instead of dishonor they will shout for joy over their portion.Therefore they will possess a double portion in their land;Everlasting gladness will be theirs.

For I, Yahweh, love justice,I hate robbery in the burnt offering;And in truth I will give them their recompenseAnd cut an everlasting covenant with them.

I will rejoice greatly in Yahweh;My soul will rejoice in my God,For He has clothed me with garments of salvation,He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness,As a bridegroom decks himself with a headdress,And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

For as the earth brings forth its branches,And as a garden causes the things sown in it to branch out,So Lord Yahweh will cause righteousness and praiseTo branch out before all the nations.

For Zion's sake I will not keep silent,And for Jerusalem's sake I will not keep quiet,Until her righteousness goes forth like brightness,And her salvation like a torch that is burning.
