But if you harbor in your hearts bitter jealousy and selfish ambition, do not boast in it or deny the truth.

Such wisdom does not come from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.

But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere.

You crave what you do not have. You kill and covet, but are unable to obtain it. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask.

But He gives us more grace. This is why it says: "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. And if you judge the law, you are not a practitioner of the law, but a judge of it.

There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they foretold the things now announced by those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do,

but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or spot.

He was known before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in the last times for your sake.

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

but the word of the Lord stands forever." And this is the word that was proclaimed to you.

As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by men but chosen and precious in God's sight,

To you who believe, then, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,"

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Live in freedom, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.

Servants, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but even to those who are unreasonable.

How is it to your credit if you are beaten for doing wrong and you endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.
