for you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live like children of light

And do not be drunk with wine (in which is dissipation), but be filled by the Spirit,

But as the church is subject to Christ, thus also wives should be subject to their husbands in everything.

in order that he might present to himself the church glorious, not having a spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she may be holy and blameless.

For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as also Christ does the church,

(This mystery is great, but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.)

And fathers, do not make your children angry, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

not while being watched, as people pleasers, but as slaves of Christ doing the will of God from the heart,

because our struggle is not against blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Some even because of envy and strife preach Christ, but some also because of good will.

What is the result? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in this I rejoice. But also I will rejoice,

according to my eager expectation and hope, that I will be put to shame in nothing, but with all boldness, even now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether through life or through death.
