Study Desk

Before sunrise I call to you for help; I place my hope in your promise.

The wicked will not be saved, for they do not obey your laws.

Seven times each day I thank you for your righteous judgments.

I wait for you to save me, Lord , and I do what you command.

Let my cry for help reach you, Lord ! Give me understanding, as you have promised.

How I long for your saving help, O Lord ! I find happiness in your law.

I wander about like a lost sheep; so come and look for me, your servant, because I have not neglected your laws.

When I speak of peace, they are for war.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you prosper.

For the sake of my relatives and friends I say to Jerusalem, "Peace be with you!"

For the sake of the house of the Lord our God I pray for your prosperity.

How we laughed, how we sang for joy! Then the other nations said about us, "The Lord did great things for them."

Indeed he did great things for us; how happy we were!

Those who wept as they went out carrying the seed will come back singing for joy, as they bring in the harvest.

If the Lord does not build the house, the work of the builders is useless; if the Lord does not protect the city, it does no good for the sentries to stand guard.

It is useless to work so hard for a living, getting up early and going to bed late. For the Lord provides for those he loves, while they are asleep.

Your work will provide for your needs; you will be happy and prosperous.

Hear my cry, O Lord; listen to my call for help!

I wait eagerly for the Lord 's help, and in his word I trust.

I wait for the Lord more eagerly than sentries wait for the dawn— than sentries wait for the dawn.
