Russian scholar; lived at Warsaw in the first half of the nineteenth century. He traveled in Germany and England. He published the following works: (1) "Teru'at Melek," on patriotism and the obligation of loyalty, published together with a German translation, Breslau, 1833; (2) "Neẓaḥ we-Hod," treating of the immortality and perpetual peace of the soul according to the prophets and philosophers, published together with an English translation, London, 1836; (3) "Ebel Kabed," an elegy in Hebrew and English on the death of Baron Nathan Rothschild, ib. 1836.
Samuel Ghirondi, who made the acquaintance of Fränkel in Italy, highly praises his learning and piety.
