(מִחֲזִיק בֶּדֶק, machazik' be'dek, a repairer of the breach, as in 2 Kings 12:8; 2 Kings 22:5; Sept. and Vulg. translate at random, οῦτοι ἐνίσχυον τὴν βουλήν, habuerunt nautas ad ministerium varice supellectilis),a workman skilled in stopping the seams of the deck or sides of a vessel, which appears to be the correct idea of the passages (Ezekiel 27:9; Ezekiel 27:27) where the inhabitants of Gebal (or Byblus) are said to have been employed in this capacity on the Tyrian vessels.
