A city of Egypt. It is spoken of by the prophet Jeremiah. It is an Egyptian word, but supposed to be derived from a root, which signifies hidden. Tradition will have it, that Jeremiah was buried there. We know that he was carried thither. (See Jeremiah 43:1-13 throughout.)
