Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

קָשַׁב fut. יִקְשַׁב to attend to any thing, once in Kal, Isaiah 32:3, where it is ascribed to the ear. (The original idea I consider to be that of sharpening, so that קָשַׁב is almost the same as קָצַב, German die Ohren fpißen, to prick up the ears, an expression taken from animals; see the remarks under אֹזֶן p. 26, B )

Hiphil, with the addition of הִקְשִׁיב אָזְנוֹ to prick up (pr. to sharpen) the ear, i.e. to attend to any thing, Psalms 10:17; Proverbs 2:2 without אָזְנוֹ id.; followed by, אֶל Psalms 142:7; Nehemiah 9:34 לְ Psalms 5:3; Isaiah 48:18 עַל Proverbs 17:4, 29:12 בְּ Psalms 66:19, acc. Job 13:6. Hence
