עֲלַל Chald. i.q. Hebr. No. II.

(1)  to enter (Syr. id.). Specially used of any one who enters, and is admitted to the private audience of a king, Daniel 2:16, 24. Pret. עַל Dan. loc. cit.; fem. עַלַּת; עַלְלַת כתיב 5:10. Part. plur. עַלִּין 4:4 5:8 כתיב, עָלְלִין.

(2) to set (used of the sun [the subst. מֵעָל]), Daniel 6:15. Comp. Hebr. בּוֹא.

Aphel, to bring in any one, followed by בְּ of pers., pret. הַנְעֵל (the letter נ being inserted) Daniel 2:25, 6:19 Imp. הָעֵל 2:24 inf. הֶעָלָה 5:7 and הַנְעָלָח 4:3.
