E.13, Ki 13): probably therefore not, as used to be supposed, a Hebraism, but a peculiarity of the dialects of Jeremiah 10:11 and of Ezra (in which the usually Aramaic form אִלֵּין does not occur) : see further אִלֵּין); — these, Jeremiah 10:11; Ezra 5:15 Kt.

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

אֵלֶּה pron. pl. comm. these, used as the pl. of the sing. זֶה. The simple and less frequent form is אֵל, which see. ־ֶה has a demonstrative power, compare הִנֵּה. (Arab. أُولَى, أُلَى, إِلاَ, f. أُلاَتُ; Ethiop. እሉ፡ hi, እላ፡ hae; Ch. אִלֵּין.) It is applied either to the things which follow, Genesis 2:4, 6:9 11:10 or to those which precede, Genesis 9:19, 10:20, 29 Genesis 10:29, 31 Genesis 10:31. It is placed after a noun, as הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה Genesis 15:1 when it is placed before, there is either an ellipsis of the verb substantive, or it is used δεικτικῶς, Psalms 73:12. Comp. זֶה. When twice or three times repeated, hi, illi, illi, Isaiah 49:12. [“Like זֶה it refers also to space, עַד־אֵלֶּה i.q. עַד־זֶה Leviticus 26:18. Some suppose אֵלֶּה to be used also for the sing., as 2 Chronicles 3:3; Ezekiel 46:24; Ezra 1:9 but these passages are uncertain. See on this pron. Hupfeld, in Zeitschr. f.d. Morgenl. ii. 161” Ges. add.]
