Brown-Driver-Briggs Expanded Definition
יָרַט verb be precipitate, precipitate (transitive) (compare Arabic conjecit, praecipitem dedit in puteum, exitium, Frey.) —

Qal Perfect יָרַט Numbers 22:32, app. with subject הַדֶּרֶךְ; the way is precipitate, (RVm headlong) before me, but transitive עליֿדירשׁעים ירטני Job 16:11 into the hands of wicked men he precipitates me (see Di; יִרְטֵנִי = יִָֽרְטֵנִי; Baer's text יִרְטֵנִי points to √ רטה q. v.); hence perhaps read יָרַטְתָּ Numbers 22:32; thou hast precipitated the journey in front of me, i.e. rushed recklessly in front of me; see Di; Kau AT leaves untransl.

[רָטָה] verb (dubious) wring out (Late Hebrew = Biblical Hebrew (si vera lectio, see Levy NHWB iv. 444and references)); —

Qal Imperfect 3 masculine singular suffix יִרְטֵנִי Job 16:11 upon the hands of wicked men he wrings me out, but read probably ׳יִָֽרְיָרַט (Di Bu Du and others), q. v.

רטט (Aramaic רְטֵט tremble, rare, derived species).

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

יָרַט fut. יִירַט.

(1)  to throw any one head-long, to precipitate, to cast down (Arabic ورط II. id. وَرْطَةُ a precipice, destruction). Job 16:11, עַל־יְדֵי רְשָׁעִים יִֽרְטֵנִי “he has cast me into the hands of the wicked.” Well rendered by the Vulg. manibus impiorum me tradidit, LXX. ἔῤῥιψε. יִֽרְטֵנִי (to be marked with the line Metheg) for יִֽירְטֵנִי. [Taken as Piel in Thes.]

(2) Intrans. to be destructive, perverse, Numbers 22:32. In the Samaritan Pentateuch there is given an interpretation הרע (הֵרַע).

[Piel, Job 16:11 see above.]

Derivative מוֹרָט [in Thes. referred to מָרַט].
