חָרָשׁ (of a form which takes dagesh, for חַדָּשׁ) constr. חָרַשׁ (Exodus 28:11; Isaiah 44:12, 13 Isaiah 44:13 compare פָּרָשׁ constr. פָּרַשׁ Ezekiel 26:10)

(1) an engraver, of stones, Exodus 21:11.

(2) an artificer, of iron, brass, stone, wood [a smith, mason, or carpenter], Exodus 35:35; Deuteronomy 27:15 sometimes more fully, חָרַשׁ בַּרְזֶל an artificer of iron. Isaiah 44:12, חָרַשׁ עֵצִים an artificer of wood, ib. verse 13 Isaiah 44:13; 2 Samuel 5:11; 1 Chronicles 14:1, 22:15. Metaph. חָרָשֵׁי מַשְׁחִית artificer of destruction, Eze. 21:36.
