 חַרְגֹּל noun [masculine] a kind of locust (Late Hebrew id.; Aramaic , חַרְגּוֺלָא; (Dozy), all = locust; swarm of locusts (Frey)) — only Leviticus 11:22 (P) in list of edible insects, "" אַרְבֶּה, סָלְעָם, חָגָב.

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

חַרְגֹּל m. a locust, so called from its leaping (see the root, comp. ἀττακός, ἀττέλαβος, from ᾄττειν), with wings and fit for food, Leviticus 11:22. (Arab, حَرْجَلَةُ a troop of horses, also of locusts, حَرْجُوَانُ, l and n being interchanged, a kind of locust without wings).
