זָהָב constr. זְהַב (once זֲהַב Genesis 2:12), m.

(1) gold (Arab. ذَهَبُ, Syr., Chald. ܕܰܗܒܳܐ, דְּהַב id.), Genesis 24:22, 53 Genesis 24:53; Exodus 3:22, 36:38, etc. When preceded by numerals, the weight שֶׁקֵל is understood, e.g. Genesis 24:22, עֲשָׁרָה זָהָב “ten (shekels) of gold.”

(2) metaph. of the golden splendour of the heavens, perhaps of the sun itself, Job 37:22 of the purest oil, brilliant like gold (hell wie Gold), Zechariah 4:12.
