Antipho 3.2.8, X. An. 1.5.2: —
run forward or forth, Il.cc.; ἀπὸ τοῦ δένδρου δύο βήματα X. An. 4.7.10; [ ἕλμινθες] τῷ στομάχῳ προτρέχουσαι Herod.Med. ap. Aët. 9.37 .
II run in advance of, outrun, στάδια πέντε τῶν ὁπλιτῶν X. An. 5.2.4; πολλοῖς ἡ γλῶττα προτρέχει τῆς διανοίας Isoc. 1.41; π. τὰ κοπριζόμενα τῶν ἀκόπρων Thphr. HP 8.7.7 .

προτρέχω: 2 aorist προεδραμον; to run before, to outrun: John 20:4; with ἔμπροσθεν added, i. e. ahead, in advance (R. V. 'to run on before'), cf. Winers Grammar, 603 (561); (Buttmann, § 151, 27), Luke 19:4; ἔμπροσθεν with the genitive of a person Tobit 11 (1 Samuel 8:11; Xenophon, Isocrates, Theophrastus, others.)
