Vocabulary of the Greek NT

ἀνέρχομαι of ";going up"; to the capital is illustrated by the illiterate P Tebt II. 412.3 (late ii/A.D.), ἄνελθε εἰς τὴν μητρόπολιν τοῦ νέου ἔτον ̣ς ̣ἐπὶ καἰγὼ ἀνέρχομε εἰς τὴν πόλιν : cf. ib. 411.5 (ii/A.D.) αὐτῇ ὥρᾳ ἄνελθε, ὁ γὰρ κράτιστος ἐπιστράτηγος ἱκανῶς σε ἐπεζήτησε, ";come up instantly, for his highness the epistrategus has made several inquiries for you"; (Edd.), and P Loud 948 verso .3 (A.D. 257) (= III. p. 210) ἀνερχέστω. Other citations are hardly required, but we may add the almost contemporary BGU II. 595.15 (c. A.D. 70–80) ὅτι ὁ υἱός μου ἀσθενῖ δινῶς, τούτ ̣ο ̣υ ̣ εἵνεκα ἀνηρχόμην.
