μεθερμηνεύω, ";translate"; (from one language into another), is found in P Tebt I. 164i. 1 (late ii/B.C.) ἀντί [γραφον ] συγγραφῆς Αἰγυπτίας. . . μεθη [ρμηνευμένης, translation of a demotic document regarding the sale or cession of land; cf. P Giss I. 36.6 (B.C. 161) (cited s.v. Ἑλληνιστί), BGU III. 1002ii. 1 (B.C. 55) ἀντίγραφον συνγραφῆς πράσεως Αἰγυπτίας μεθηρμηνευμένης κατὰ τὸ δυνατόν, Preisigke 5275.20 (A.D. 11) ἀντίγραφον ἀπ᾽ ἀντιγράφου ὑπογραφῆς Αἰγυπτίας Ἐλληνιστὶ μεθερμηνευμένης κατὰ τὸ δυνατόν, BGU I. 140.1 (Imperial letter written at Alexandria (?) in the time of Hadrian, cf. Wilcken Hermes xxxvii. (1902), p. 84 ff.) ἀν [τί ]λρ (αφον) ἐπ ̣ισ ̣τ [ολ (ῆς) τοῦ κυρίου μεθ ]ηρ [μηνευ ]μένης, and P Leid Wviii. 31 (ii/iii A.D.) βίβλον, ἣν οὐδεὶς ἴσχυσε μεθερμηνεῦσας (l. σαι) ἢ πρᾶξαι, ib. xi. 47 ἐκλήθη Ἑρμῆς, δι᾽ οὗ τὰ πάντα μεθερμήνευσται (l. μεθηρμ –) (paranom.).
