T. for Hebrew צִיצִית, i. e. a little appendage hanging down from the edge of the mantle or cloak, made of twisted wool; a tassel, tuft: Matthew 9:20; Matthew 14:36; Matthew 23:5; Mark 6:56; Luke 8:44. κράσπεδον, the ";fringe"; or ";tassel,"; which the Law required every Jew to attach to the corners of his outer garment (Numbers 15:35 f., Deuteronomy 22:12). The word is found in the magic P Lond 121.371 (iii/A.D.) (= I. p. 96) ἐξάψας κράσπετον (l. –δον) τοῦ ἱματίου σου.
