 I. מַסֶּע noun [masculine] quarry or quarrying; — only absolute as adverb accusative, אֶבֶן שְׁלֵמָה מַסָּע 1 Kings 6:7 stone perfect (at the) quarry (or at quarrying, i.e. when it was quarried; compare Benz; text dubious).

II. נסע (√ of following; possibly Arabic throw ( puncture, wound, etc.), Kam Frey, so Buhl13).

II. מַסָּע missile, dart; — only absolute Job 41:18 (+ חֲנִית, שִׁרְיָה).

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

מַסָּע a weapon, an arrow, a dart, Job 41:18. Arab. مِنْزَعُ id. from the root ذزع to draw an arrow in a bow, Koran, lxxix. 1; the letters ס and ז being interchanged.

מַסָּע m. (from the root נָסַע)

(1)  a quarry, see the root, Hiphil No. 1. 1 Kings 6:7, אֶבֶן שְׁלֵמָה מַסַּע “whole stones (not hewn), from the quarry.” LXX. λίθοις ἀκροτόμοις ἀργοῖς. Vulg. incorrectly lapides dolati.

(2) breaking up, departure of a camp, prop. of a Nomadic host (see נָסַע No. 2 ); hence also applied to single individuals, Deuteronomy 10:11, לְמַסַּע לִפְנֵי הָעָם “to go out before the people.” Numbers 10:2, לְמַסַּע אֶת־הַמַּחֲנוֹת “for the departure of the camp.” Subst. a journey, Exodus 40:38; Numbers 10:6 a station on a journey, Exodus 17:1, לְמַסְעֵיהֶם “according to their stations.” Numbers 10:6, 12 Numbers 10:12.
