Simeon B. Jakim

The 1901 Jewish Encyclopedia

Palestinian amora of the third generation: pupil of R. Johanan, to whom he often addressed scholarly questions (Yer. 'Orlah 1:60d; Yer. B. B. 16b), and contemporary of R. Eliezer. He was a prominent teacher and was considered an important authority (Yer. Sanh. 21d). Together with R. Eliezer he is mentioned in the Babylonian Talmud also, although under the name Simeon b. Eliakim (Ket. 50b).
