The 1901 Jewish Encyclopedia

Coloinal resident of Philadelphia. On Nov. 7, 1765, he signed, with other citizens of Philadelphia, the celebrated agreement not to import merchandise from England until the repeal of the Stamp Act. On Dec. 27, 1776, he was appointed, upon the recommendation of the treasurer of the United States, an authorized signer of the bills of credit (see "Journal of the Continental Congress").
