1. Son of Shemaiah, a descendant of the kings of Judah, in the fifth generation from Zerubbabel (1 Chronicles 3:22). He returned with Zerubbabel and Ezra from Babylon to Jerusalem (Ezra 8:2; Nehemiah 12:2), and was one of those who sealed the covenant with Nehemiah (Nehemiah 10:5). 2. Son of Hashabniah; helped Nehemiah to repair the wall of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 3:10). Probably the Hattush referred to is the same in both cases.
