The 1901 Jewish Encyclopedia

  1. A family that returned with Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:16; Nehemiah 7:21), the head of which signed the covenant with Nehemiah (Nehemiah 10:18). In I Esd. 5:15, Ater is called Aterezias.
  2. Doorkeepers of the Temple, who returned with Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:42; Nehemiah 7:45); called "sons of Jatal" in I Esd. 5:28.
