Swaddle

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

(חָתִל, to bandage, σπαργανόω; but טָפִח, in Lamentations 2:23, means to bear, upon the palm), to swathe an infant with cloths in order to keep its tender limbs from injury, a practice common in the East (Ezekiel 16:4; Luke 2:7). (See BIRTH).
