(1), an English divine, was successively rector of Rickinghall, Suffolk; preacher of Gray's Inn, London; and chancellor of the diocese of Salisbury. He was noted as a controversialist, being opposed to Hoadly in the Bangorian Controversy, and to Warburton's Divine Legation of Moses. He died in 1763.
