Smith, George R.w.

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature

a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born in Lincoln Co., Ga., Aug. 8, 1820; converted in October, 1832; licensed to exhort in 1838, and as local preacher in 1839. He was received on trial in the Alabama Conference in January, 1840, and sent to the Tombigbee Circuit; in 1841, the Coosa Circuit. In 1842 he was received into full connection and sent to Pensacola; in 1843 to Apalachicola, where he organized a Church and began the building of a house of worship. He died April 16, 1843.
