Ramsey, James (2), D.D.

an Associate minister, was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, March 22, 1771. It is supposed that he commenced; his classical studies under his. minister, Dr. Anderson, when twenty-five years of age. He was licensed. at Buffalo, N.Y., by the Presbytery of Chartiers, in 1803; ordained and installed pastor of the congregation of, Chartiers, September 4, 1805, and in. 1821 was chosen professor in the. Western, Seminary, to. which, office was added the professorship of Hebrew in Jefferson, College. In 1842 he resigned his professorship and continued his duties as pastor. He died March 6, 1855.
