a Presbyterian minister, was born at Shephardstown, Virginia, April 2, 1822. He was educated in Illinois, where he practiced law until he was converted, then, after a year or two in the theological seminary, was ordained and installed pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, Illinois, December 20, 1852.
