Beney' hay-Yevanim', בְּנֵי חִיְּוָנִים sons of the lonians, Joel 3:6; in the Apocr. ῞Ελλην, 1 Maccabees 6:2; 1 Maccabees 8:9; 1 Maccabees 8:18; 2 Maccabees 4:15; 2 Maccabees 13:2; in the N.T. ῾Ελληνιστής, a Hellenist, Acts 6:1; Acts 9:29; Acts 11:20), the name of the people elsewhere called Greeks (q.v.).
